Thank you for your interest in Evergreen Goldens. Evergreen was established in 1990. My husband Ed and I purchased our very first Golden Retriever "Jake" shortly after we were married. It did not take us long to realize having one Golden would never be enough for us. Less than a year later we purchased our second Golden "Polo". Jake and Polo introduced us to the breed in 1990, however it was our first two girls, CJ and Laurel, who introduced us to the world of purebred dog shows.
Laurel (aka Ch Gingerbread's Mt. Laurel, OD) completed her championship in three consecutive weekends at just over one year of age! She finished her championship with 3 majors (5,5,3)! In a brief Specials career she was awarded multiple Best Of Breed wins and a group placement. A good breeding program must be built on a solid foundation. Laurel quickly became the solid foundation upon which all of our hopes and dreams have been built. To date Laurel has produced eight Champion offspring and many additional kids with titles. Her kids carry a total of 36 titles. Many of them are featured on our "Titled Kids" page. Her children continue to pursue additional titles every year.
Now that Laurel is retired from the whelping box she is content to teach her kids and grandkids how to chase critters on our five acre property in Chardon, Ohio. Her children continue to carry on the tradition at Evergreen of producing outstanding show dogs as well as wonderful family pets.
Although we typically produce one litter a year, our first love and focus is competing in various events with our dogs. We pursue Championships on many of the dogs we own or breed, but we have also trained in additional areas such as obedience and field. Goldens are very versatile. They can do it all!
We are currently members of the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA), the Cuyahoga Valley Golden Retriever Club (C.V.G.R.C), Buckeye Retriever Club (BRC), and the Golden Retriever Rescue Organization known as G.R.I.N. Being involved in these organizations helps to keep us up to date on the latest happenings in the dog world. We attend many lectures, seminars, and workshops every year to learn more about training, showing, breeding and the health and status of our breed.
